After a much needed sleep we awoke early the next morning to head to the airport for our 3 day beach vacation to Roatan, woot! woot!
We left Tegucigalpa, landed in San Pedro Sula to pick up more passengers and then flew out to Roatan as we felt the plane descend we couldn't wait to just sit on the beach and relax then....we felt our plane start to go up (it felt like dejavu)
There was a thunderstorm in Roatan and we couldn't land. They told us that we were going back to San Pedro to wait it out. We sat in our plane, waited, and then they told us we were going to try again. Right before we took off they said we were going back to the boarding zone and that our flight was cancelled! Cancelled?!?! Seriously.
The next flight left the next day and we didn't want to wait around for a day so we bought flights form another airline and sat around the airport for 6 hours until it lifted off. We had some good times, napped, ate Baleadas, and laughed.
We boarded our next flight and our plane was one of the smallest planes I have ever been on. There were only 8 passengers on the plane, we could see the cockpit and talk to the pilot, and it only took us 25 minutes to get there instead of 1 hour because we didn't need to fly at 20,000 feet :) The rainstorm was still howling but our pilot was vigilant and after a lot of turbulence we safely landed on the rainy island of Roatan.
We checked into our hotel which was right along the beach! (breathtaking)
That first night we walked along the beach to the tourist hub of West End. It kept raining and we were soaked by the time we had walked there, eaten dinner, and walked back. I love the rain. It reminds me of my joyful times in Cambodia so we had a fun time splashing in puddles and having the rain soak us to the bone.
We played games with Chad and Kylee and then went to sleep.
The next day we walked to the tourist West Bay Beach and snorkeled right off the coast. It was so beautiful and oh, so fun! The weather was still a little overcast but the water was warm. We enjoyed holding hands while we snorkeled and seeing tropical fish and the coral reef.
The rest of the day was spent lounging on the beach, playing volleyball, eating, getting massages (baha! I wouldn't call mine a massage, it was more of a Honduran lady just poking at my tight muscles) and laughing. We walked back to our hotel with the sad thought of having to leave the next day.
We love you Roatan!

What a BEAUTIFUL place to vacation!!! I'm so glad you had such a great time. I love rain, too. Nothing feels more carefree than splashing in puddles and not caring how wet you get.
